How we handle your data

We keep it simple: we only collect what is necessary to run the site. No third-party cookies, no profiling, no spam.

Data Controller

Personal Data

When you fill out the contact form, we only use your name and email address to reply to your message. This data is securely processed by our backend and is not shared with third parties unless required to resolve your query. We retain contact messages for a maximum of 12 months, unless longer retention is required by law. Legal basis: GDPR Article 6(1)(b) (handling your request) or Article 6(1)(f) (legitimate interest in answering your question).

Analytics (Matomo)

We use Matomo Analytics, hosted on our own servers, to understand how the site is used (e.g. which filters are popular). IP addresses are anonymized. We run Matomo in cookieless mode — no tracking cookies are set in your browser. All analytics data remains 100% on our own servers and is never shared with advertising networks. Aggregated analytics data is retained for a maximum of 13 months. Legal basis: GDPR Article 6(1)(f) (legitimate interest in improving the site).

Session Storage (Cookies & Session Storage)

We use one functional cookie (`cablepark_language`) to remember your language preference. We also use Session Storage in your browser to save your active filters, searches, and scroll position in the parks explorer, and an anonymous session identifier (`cablepark-vid`) so that analytics pageviews and interactions are correctly linked to the same visit. Session Storage data is automatically cleared when you close the browser tab.

External Content (Maps & Videos)

We embed videos on our website to provide you with rich content. We use Vimeo and YouTube's Privacy-Enhanced Mode (youtube-nocookie.com) to display these videos.

YouTube (Privacy-Enhanced Mode)

No connection is made to YouTube's servers until you click play. Once you click play, YouTube may set cookies, track your interactions, and process your IP address and browser data according to Google's privacy rules.

Vimeo

No connection is made to Vimeo's servers until you click play. When you click play, Vimeo may collect your IP address, browser information, and set cookies to track your video interactions. The embed includes a do-not-track parameter (`dnt=1`) to request that Vimeo does not track your activity. If you are logged into a Vimeo account, this data may be linked to your profile.

OpenStreetMap

Our maps are powered by OpenStreetMap (OSM). When viewing maps, your browser connects directly to OSM and transmits your IP address to fetch map tiles.

Under European privacy law (GDPR), you have the right to access, correct, or delete the data we hold about you (primarily contact requests).
